When it’s time to go back to school, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is whether to attend classes online or on campus. While the in-person experience might sound attractive — and Florida Tech has one of the most beautiful campuses in Florida — many students have discovered that online classes are a much better fit for their work schedules and family time.
Online education at Florida Tech has many advantages with no compromises. Online students get:
- No commutes
- No set class times
- Dynamic course materials
- Collaboration opportunities with other students
- Responsive instructors
- A robust online learning platform
Here’s what some recent Florida Tech graduates say about their online experiences:
It Was Easy to Work With Others
“What surprised me the most about the online degree program was how available and proactive the professors were,” said Hannah Marcos, who earned an AA in Healthcare Management. “I never dealt with an unanswered question or email, and each week I often received class updates, feedback, personalized messages and weekly expectations in my Canvas inbox.”
Lauren Boshell, who earned a BA in Aviation Management, said she was energized by the “ease of collaborating with classmates on group projects.” She said, “it was flexible, aside from the weekly deadlines, because we were able to work on the project on our own time without having to schedule group meetings.”
Bethany Schommer, who earned a BA in Criminal Justice, said she “learned quite a bit from my professors and their life experiences.” Those interactions were “invaluable.”
Work/Life Balance
Many students say they were very impressed at how seamlessly online learning fit into their schedules. That would have been more difficult if they had chosen to attend classes on campus.
“Going into the program, I was not sure how flexible it would be with assignments and exams,” said Ryan Keel, who earned an MS Supply Chain Management. “I was very surprised as I progressed through the program and found that I could pretty much make my own schedule and work ahead of time when I needed to.”
Barb Rodriguez, who earned an MBA in Marketing, said that the online environment was a selling point for Florida Tech. “There are very few schools that will provide a curriculum that will benefit your career growth along with the flexibility of getting an education online,” she said. “I recommend Florida Tech to be part of your career growth and personal achievement.”
Danielle Milner, who earned a BA in Applied Psychology, said, “the most important factor in selecting Florida Tech was the fact that it was online, giving me the freedom to attend school and work full-time.”
Exceptional Support
Graduates credit Florida Tech’s student success coaches for giving them the information, confidence and inspiration to complete their degrees.
“I had a triad of support — my employer, my wife and family, and most importantly, my Student Success Coach John Salmon — there for me along the way to offer encouragement when I needed it,” said Doug Collins, who earned a BA in Business Administration. “It’s amazing what a call every Tuesday, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., can do to boost morale! Thanks, John!”
Dr. Gobivenkata Balaji, who earned an MBA with a specialization in Healthcare, had a similar experience. “All this would not have been possible without my Student Success Coach, Mr. Jason Carey. Mr. Carey guided me in choosing my courses, getting the course materials. He was there with me from the initial days of the program until after I completed the course,” he said. “Such support from the staff makes Florida Tech’s online programs successful.”
