Florida Tech honored hundreds of graduates in the Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony on May 5, 2018 in Melbourne, Florida.
The Spring Class of 2018 included 275 online students representing more than 30 states, including California, New York and Florida.
More than 100 grads of online programs attended the ceremony, as individuals who earn their degrees online receive the same diplomas as main-campus students and have the ability to participate in commencement activities, including walking at graduation.
Commencement marks a key achievement for many, including online students who juggled work, families and more while completing their degree program. Watch this video to see how past grads have felt on the big day:
Matthew Donlan, who earned his MBA in Healthcare Management 100% online, celebrated a significant milestone at graduation. Not only has he maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the program, he also received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award and the Phi Kappa Phi FIT Chapter Award. Donlan decided to earn a graduate degree to help further his career in healthcare and inspire others who may have faced similar battles. Today, he credits his degree with taking his career to the next level:
“In the healthcare field, experience does not speak as loud as credentials. I had worked as a counselor long before I completed my bachelor’s degree, and as much as I excelled at my position, I was never paid as well as my cohorts because of my education level. An MBA speaks for itself. The fact that Florida Tech allows for the MBA to tie into Healthcare Management opens many doors in the field that I work in.”
