Adryan Moorefield, MS Information Technology/Cybersecurity, Class of 2014
What are you currently doing professionally?
I am no longer living in Philadelphia. Instead, I am touring North America with the Broadway National Tour of the Phantom of the Opera.
How has your Florida Tech degree set you up for success? Did it open doors?
I can’t stress enough how going back to school in any fashion, specifically in my case, gave me a level of preparedness. There is so much time, energy, dedication, and mental and physical resources that go into pursuing education, especially one that is primarily online. Those tools have reinforced the notion in me that I am capable of doing anything. There is actually a cast mate of mine currently on tour that is studying online. It brings back so many memories of time well spent.
I’d have to say that the degree hasn’t opened any doors for me…yet! Technology is all around us. It’s becoming more and more enveloped into our daily lives. The necessity will always be there. I’m confident that when the time comes, I will be that much more prepared because of the degree.
What aspects of your time at Florida Tech continue to resonate with you since graduation?
I’d have to say the camaraderie found within the classes. The ability to express and share different perspectives of the same problem in a safe space. I like to think of myself as a holistic type of person. I like to have as much information as possible. It’s always beneficial to have others that can see problems from angles you can’t. It only helps to serve and strengthen the overall solution of whatever problem there may be.
Do you keep in touch with any of your professors or classmates?
Unfortunately, no. The dynamic of my life changed quickly after graduation and I kind of got swept up in all the madness. It’s funny though, because when I think back to the discussion boards, I can still see my classmates faces quite clearly in my mind’s eye! I’m sure they are all out doing amazing things right now. I can’t believe it’s already been four years!
Are you a member of the alumni association? If so, have you participated in alumni events?
I’m not a member. Being on tour keeps me traveling all the time. It’d be nice to be able to participate, though. Maybe one day.
Would you recommend Florida Tech to a friend or family member?
My favorite question! Of course I would!!! It was such an enjoyable experience for me. Florida Tech is an accredited, affordable, manageable solution for anyone trying to achieve their higher education goals.
